Memorial Weekend 2011

Our weekend started off on Saturday with fishing at the lake and then we headed to a little waterslide at our friends cabin-hooked up with good friends Sunday, as well as hung with my folks for a couple of days. On Monday, some Manhattan friends joined us for a little R&R , and the weather was CRAZY-with 40-50 mph wind gusts. It didn't stop us though...from having a great relaxing day! All in all good times-with GREAT people!

Good Times in Vegas!

We were able to sneak away last week and head to Viva Las Vegas for Scott's 40th Birthday. It was of course "eventful", as our flight there was canceled last minute due to bad weather in Dallas. So, we drove to Kansas City, and headed to Chicago of all places. We met up my brother and Morgan for a quick dinner and then headed out to Vegas early the next morning. All in all fun times with good friends, great weather and we even saw a few celebs!

Meet Isabella.......

We are proud to introduce the newest member of the Gillam Family.....Kiersten's hedgehog, Izzy! Yes you heard this right, I decided I just did not have enough on my plate, and allowed my daughter to get an exotic rodent with quills.

Kiersten first got interested in hedgehogs when Wide Horizons came and visited her school. They explained some very interesting facts about hedgehogs, and even let the kids know they could be fine pets. This started her research into these "cute, cuddly, prickly, pets". Kiersten spent many hours looking up hedhehog care, until one day I told her I would look into it for her. A friend told us about a breeder (yes, people actually breed these animals for sale), so that was it...we found our cuddly new baby online, and ventured down to Iola Kansas to pick up our rodent. Kiersten did save up $150 of her very own money to purchase this pet-so I was ecstatic.

Decades day at School

This past Friday was "Decades Day" at school-thank goodness for our Halloween dress up box...the girls were able to dig through it and come up with something 70's and 80's. They had a blast going to school this way!

Awana Award Night

We celebrated the end of an AWESOME Awana year with an awards night. All 3 of my kids finished an entire book this year, and each were rewarded for their efforts last night. Kiersten memoried nearly 80 bible verses, Karli memorized around 60 verses, and even Kaden at the age of 4, memorized 25 verses. Great job kids on a great accomplishment......all your efforts and hard work paid off.

Kiersten's Voice and Piano recital

Kiersten has amazing singing voice and has been taking voice and piano lessons at McCain for the past year. She showcased her talents at a recital Saturday afternoon. She did so great, especially considering she woke up with a scratchy, sore throat that morning. What a truly proud moment it was to watch my little girl sing with her heart and soul. She was not afraid of performing, and was so poised! Awesome job sis!

Kiersten's dance recital

Kiersten performed her jazz routine May 1st at McCain, she danced to "We Built this City on Rock and Roll". It was AWESOME and her costume was so much fun. Great job Sis!

Happy Easter from the Gillam's

A little late posting pics....but Easter was wonderful, as we were able to spend it with my parents this year, and the country club treated us to a yummy brunch!

Lincoln MARATHON Recap!

The Lincoln marathon was May 1, 2011. This was my 6th marathon, and I had an agenda. The plan was to break 4:00:00. It finally happened today.........My final time was 3:54:16-and although I had Boston on my mind-I am always reminded not to "PUSH IT". God teaches me something, on each and every race. First...he reminds me that he is in charge, and just how lucky I am to run, then he takes a notch out of my belt, and scoots my pride out of the way. I am then always reminded of my beautiful, wonderful, supportive family and husband-what a BLESSING they are!!!! Then he reminds me of my amazing running partners, and running buddies-who are just truly wonderful. Seriously....have you ever met a runner-who was not awesome! I am truly blessed to run and ever so grateful! Thanks Shay for pacing me the 1st 13.1-and a shout out to Angie C. and Suzy H. for great races today!

The little guy is back at soccer!

After last years soccer experience I wasn't sure the league would take him back-but another year makes a HUGE difference and Kade has improved a lot this year. He is quick on his feet and can run fast. Plus, he "kindof" understands the game a little more. GOOD TIMES with the little guy!

My Baby is going to Kindergarten!!!!!

Yep that's right my baby is headed to Kindergarten this fall. We had Kindergarten round up and Kade met all the teachers, and was able to see all 4 brand new classrooms at our school. He asks everyday, "Mom, when does Kindergarten start?". He is so excited.......Mom not so much (tear! tear!)
