Kiersten truns 11!

Kiersten celebrated her 11th birthday yesterday. How did this happen!!!! Time to flying at record paces around here, and yes she is nearly as tall as me..... and I am thinking she may surpass me this year. The kids had the day off due to Columbus day, so we took full advantage of this by sleeping in, eating McDonalds for breakfast, and then hitting Kiersten's favorite Japanese steakhouse for lunch. Her friend Amanda turned 11 on the same day-so many celebrations were in order. We love you Kiersten and are so proud of you!!!

the Pumpkin Patch

Kade's Kindegarten class ventured out to Britt's farm last week, to finish off their pumpkin unit. Their week started by disecting pumpkins and measuring and weighing them. They also counted every pumpkin seed from their dissected pumpkins. Then these kiddo planted their seeds in baggies and observed and recorded their growth. Their amazing teacher Mrs. Shepek, then took some seeds home roasted these and make pumpkin pies for the kids. So the perfect ending to a perfect week, came in the form of a field trip to the pumpkin patch!

CHICAGO MARATHON recap

"

I ran the Chicago marathon on Sunday. It was my 2nd time running this race and my 7th marathon. I ran this race in 2007, where it was recorded as the hottest race in history. Yesterday marked the 3rd hottest Chicago marathon.....ARGHH!!! I was hoping for a redeption run with cooler temperatures, and what I found was HOT temps with a nearly 70 degree start and 85 degree finish. But, that was okay.....I was very humbled by this marathon, and just so grateful and blessed to run. What a blessing!!! I also had such a fun time seeing some of my friends run their very 1st marathon (congrats Angie C., Suzy H.,and Mitzi F.)-you are amazing! I want to also mention all my "sweat sistas and brother....Aimee A., Juls G., Ash G., Bob S., Ang C., Ang P-S., Ang. T., Shay H., Judy S. Jen F. Deb F., Kitra S.-you guys make the finish line worth it and you are all amazing men and women.....you also make 4am on Saturday mornings worth it!!!!

All 3 kiddo's ran in the race. Kiersten and Kade the 1/2 mile and Karli the 1 mile. They all did great, and we are anxiously awaiting the results. Way to go guys :)!!!

Run across America

http://www.therun.org/

I was able to to meet the Godby boys last night at the Running company See what they are doing below...these guys are stud's.

The Run: Moving Natural Medicine Forward, was founded to dramatize and publicize the urgent need for all Americans to take massive action and transform our nation’s health and spark a movement on Main Street America. Dr. Godby, nephew Jonas Ely, and two sons, Isaiah and Jeremiah, are taking drastic steps, of each running an average of 33 miles per day, a combined total of 13,500 miles - to bring attention to, and raise awareness how lifestyle choices and natural medicine is “the cure” to optimizing health.

BREW to SHOE 10K

Brew to Shoe...what can I say....this race is brutal! It is always HOT and humid! This year was an exception, though...yeah..it was still hot and humid, but 2 out of my 3 kids ran the FUN RUN! Karli actually "trained" for this, and did awesome (2nd place female :)) and Kade ran for fun. I am just super excited to possibly have some future cross country stars!!!

I on the other hand, had an awful run! I felt bad, and the temperatures did affect me. But, I am always so grateful to run and I was filled with gratitude today.

Warrior Dash-Kansas City

On Saturday a couple of my running partners and I decided to do this crazy race called the Warrior Dash. It was crazy....it was a total of only 3.1 miles, but we encountered all these crazy obstacles along the way. We crawled through mud, under barbed wired, over cargo nets, jumped over fire, ran through swamps and hoisted our bodies over 30 foot plywood (you get the picture). The race terrain was more challenging than the obstacles, as it was hard to run over the rocks and slippery surfaces. We did this crazy race for fun and wanted to finish without twisting an ankle.......only 9 weeks til marathon!
