After all the tragedy last week with tornadoes, lightening and fire, we just decided last night...what the "hey" lets get a dog. This is a HUGE decision for us and we hope we made the right one. The name for our sweet little Yorkie Poo is still yet to be determined...but I am hoping my kids will go for "TOTO"!!!

Many friends and neighbors have been affected by this awful tornado that swept through our neighborhood last night. Our prayers and thoughts are with them as we continue with the clean up effort. These pictures do not even show half of the devastation that has occur ed here! Please pray for these families in Miller Ranch and they struggle to figure out their next steps.

Just in....This was an F4 tornado with 200 MPH winds..about as bad as it gets!!!

Hospital Hill Race Weekend

What a great weekend to run...NOT! This weekend was the infamous Hospital Hill half marathon in Kansas City. I was signed up to run this small uphill race for the 3rd time along with some friends but I had to succumb because of a bum knee. However, I was still determined to go and support my running partners through the heat. The race was pretty rough with severe heat and high winds, but everyone prevailed and finished. Here are some spotlights. CONGRATS TO ALL YOU AWESOME GALS WHO HAD THE GUTS JUST TO FINISH!!!

Hospital Hill Start

VBS Gets off without a Hitch!

VBS got off without a hitch this week. It is so exciting to see the kids love for Christ. Our theme this year is the Jerusalem Marketplace. The children are learning about the Resurrection of Jesus. After hearing the bible story the kids can enter the Marketplace and go to various activities such as the sandal shop, candy shop, the bread shop, the music shop, or the food tasting shop. Then they can head outdoors to the carpenter shops, where they can make woodworking items, pet live animals, try a round at archery, and much more. Scott and I have been enjoying helping out this year.

Spring Hail Storm today!

The weather was brutal today and we had baseball size hail in some parts of town. Scott's windshield was broken out and his car damaged by these huge ice balls. Below is a shot of what fell at the Gillam household.

What a perfect night we had to enjoy TGIF at the Country Club last night. A couple of cosmo's, conversation, and fun topped off the evening.

This is moving to me...as I grew up adoring Steven Curtis Chapman. What a fine man and a tragic loss for his family!

Kiersten's 1st Sleep Over

Kiersten had a friend spend the night on Thursday and the girls did extremely well. It is a VERY BIG deal in our house to have the privilege of an overnight, so we take these events seriously with lots of movies, popcorn, candy, and late nights.

MAC Pottery Class

Today my girls started "SPIN OFF" a Manhattan Arts Center pottery class. They learned how to "throw" clay and use a pottery wheel. It was pretty neat to see their reactions and their enjoyment just by making a clay cup!!!!

Memorial Day Fun!!!

After Predictions for storms.....it turned out to be an AWESOME weekend (at least Sat. was great)!!! My brothers flew in from Chicago and Wisconsin, along with Miranda (Josh's girlfriend). My parents also were able to get in on the action. We fished, went tubing, skiing, roasted smores, played rook, Mad Gab and a ton of bolo ball. Thanks Nate for bringing the yummy Lou Malnatis pizza all the way from CHI town...It was fab!
